Protein DES(1-3) IGF-1 is a truncated version of the peptide hormone IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) in which the tripeptide Gly-Pro-Glu is absent from the N-terminus of the protein. In other words, DES(1-3) IGF-1 lacks the first 3 amino acids at the N-terminus of insulin-like growth factor 1, and consists of a total of 67 amino acids, per compared to the 70 amino acids of IGF-1.
