Bacteriostatic water for injection peptides and growth hormones. Sterile non-pyrogenic water containing benzyl alcohol at 0.9%, which is added as a bacteriostatic preservative. Unlike ordinary sterile water, bacteriostatic can keep the dissolved peptide stable for a long time.

The container can be reinserted several times (most often through a sterile needle) and benzyl alcohol inhibits or stops the growth of most potentially contaminating bacteria.
